The Glass Castle

Jeannette Walls makes me feel like I was in the book The Glass Castle living with her through her childhood. Her imagery was what really pulled me into the book. Once you started the book, you just can't find a point to stop! It was like you have to finish the whole section to the book. Even after finishing a chapter or a section, you just want to know what would happen next so you just keep reading and reading.
The books is interesting, pulling the readers in with the adventures of the siblings while dealing with how their parents are raising them. Reading how they start to stand up for themselves makes you want to reach the end to see if they win against the parents. I say this book is a good read. It teaches you that your parents do what they can for you, but they can’t give you everything; they have to look after their own needs and cravings too.
Not all parents are right. Some think they know what's best for you, but you have to decide for yourself if that's the way you want to go. No matter what happens they're still your parent. That's an important lesson the book teaches you, even though the parents haven't done a great job of getting their needs the kids still grow up to help them out. They brought you into the world and should get recognition for their hard work of raising up 4 kids and they should be treated well at the ends of their lives.

In the book The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls this family's life is a huge rollercoaster. Every single page that you turn Jeannette Walls does a great job in making you want to read more and more. This book made me read right through it and whenever i had to stop I couldn’t stop thinking about what was to come next. I had no clue what to think about their parents I couldn't decide whether they were good people or not. You sort of even feel bad for the parents as well in the story so you don't know whether to feel bad for all of them or just the kids. As the kids try to find many different ways to avoid going home and to keep achieving the fact that they are so poor makes it very difficult for them. They also have weird parents that like to leave windows opened and front doors open just because it's hot. I don't' think they understand the dangerous consequences because even after bad things do happen they still keep on leaving them open. Rex and Rosemary never learn from their mistakes and don't ever become better parents than they already are. Even tho Rex's alcoholism is affecting his family he keeps doing it, and even when there is no money rosemary doesn't want to teach. They both would rather live in a dump than move out into the land that Rosemary owns. It kind of makes you sad you know thinking about how this is real and that 4 kids had to go through all this, but it gives you hope because if these kids could make it so can you!
